On Newpower Soul album, Prince have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Prince energies, virtually a rebirth. Prince “Newpower Soul” is an amazing album.
First time I heard Madsex was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Newpower Soul. When U Love Somebody - Check out that bassline! Shoo-Bed-Ooh - a classic song. Push It Up! motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. I like the idea behind Freaks On This Side. There is exquisite mix of music in Come On. The One still maintains something of a specific flourish. (I Like) Funky Music is one of the coolest songs Prince has ever recorded. Song Wasted Kisses is actually a funny song.
