Now signed to Curtis Mayfield’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “Curtis (Deluxe Edition)” leads Curtis Mayfield’s back-to-school campaign. Curtis Mayfield had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Curtis Mayfield’s debut, ‘Curtis (Deluxe Edition)’, does not fit easily into one genre. Unappreciated gift to R&B: Soul
The Other Side Of Town is the most memorable and exquisite. I can’t stop playing The Makings Of You. We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue - A strong beat. Curtis Mayfield sings Move On Up in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Miss Black America is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Curtis Mayfield ever produced. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Wild and Free. Some call Give It Up from Curtis (Deluxe Edition) as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. I listened to the opening track Power To The People (Demo) and liked it a lot. Underground (Demo) pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Ghetto Child (Demo) has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Curtis Mayfield’s strong vocals come to the fore. I love the melodic melody of Readings In Astrology (Demo) and to this day it makes me feel good. Music and lyrics of Suffer (Demo) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Miss Black America (Demo) is a great opener for Curtis (Deluxe Edition). Voice of Curtis Mayfield in The Makings Of You (Backing Tracks, Take 32) is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go (Backing Tracks, Takes 1 and 2) is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. I was truly moved when I heard (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go (Edited Single Version).
