There is so much to love about Alela Diane, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. It’s natural for Alela Diane to take a stab at ‘Third Feet’ considering her long-professed love for Godless Cruelty. Now signed to Alela Diane’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “The Pirate’s Gospel” leads Alela Diane’s back-to-school campaign. The Pirate’s Gospel is the best essence of Alela Diane.
Rifle the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Foreign Tongue has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Alela Diane’s strong vocals come to the fore. Can You Blame the Sky? I just LOVE this mix! One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Something Gone Awry. Pieces of String is the more seemingly obscure song on The Pirate’s Gospel that bear up best to repeated listening. I believe Clickity Clack is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. Sister Self is outstanding work of Alela Diane. Pigeon Song is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Oh! My Mama is beautiful, yet underrated track.
