Since completing 1990’s ‘Tell Me What I Gotta Do’, Al Jarreau fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Al Jarreau had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. There is so much to love about Al Jarreau, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Smart music for smart people.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: L Is For Lover, which shows, blatantly, how much Al Jarreau has evolved as a singer. Says is a very catchy tune. Al Jarreau rocks harder than ever with Pleasure. I believe Golden Girl is one of the most exquisite, heartfelt songs ever written. Al Jarreau emotions are reflected through Across The Midnight Sky. Don’t judge (We Got) Telepathy on the first listening. Give A Little More Lovin’ is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Al Jarreau released so far. No Ordinary Romance gives good insight into the truths. I love the melodic melody of Real Tight and to this day it makes me feel good.
